hmm, i've been writing a lot of music lately, but i've been struggling to find what i guess i'd call deeper inspiration, the kind that pushes me to create music that i'll feel excited about more than a day or two after i make it

i don't think passively waiting for it to strike is the right strategy, even if it does occasionally appear out of left field. maybe meditating on creative block is a good starting place. i also find collaboration very inspiring, because it encourages me to take risks and get weird

(btw if anyone does feel like music collaboration, my discord is on my profile! i'm happy to work microtonally or in 12-TET)

maybe another strategy could be creative constraints, or maybe also just sitting down and consciously considering what an exciting new direction might be, what kind of project might push me to get extra creative and challenge myself. maybe a tuning other than 31-EDO or a scale that's not heptatonic?

i suppose there's also just the idea of accepting that sometimes you have to go through a trough period to get to the peaks. i do often find that the path to writing music i really like is through the doldrums

anyway, i'm gonna try to zoom out from this situation and recognize how much i've grown as a musician over the years. i'm not static by any means. the trend is definitely upward :9
