every now and then I see people go 'ugh, furries? I know they keep the corporate types away from spaces, but they're so open about all the sexual stuff all the time, it weirds me out' and like

have you put it together that there is a direct correlation between the two data points of 'keeps corporate influence away' and 'constantly open about their fetishes'

You? You look at a picture of two trans foxgirls inflating each other's titties at a beach picnic with canisters of whipped cream and see 'unhealthily unrealistic fetish content.' But me? I look at that same picture and see anti-marketing reactive armor. I see something that Johnson & Johnson will never touch in a million years. I see people fighting for your right not to be psychically-assaulted by Square Space ads.

and I ALSO still get to look at the giant titties so what the FUCK are you complaining about, frankly

Throughout my own journey in being a furry I had to really talk to myself about what I want to see around me and why I want to be a furry, you've helped summarize a part of that.

Being openly horny, while I still have to learn how to be entirely comfortable with doing that, is the best way to repel corporate interests and keep my shit from being sterilized. I mean, the enemy of sterilization is the body and its many functions itself, what's more natural than sexy stuff, and arousal?

Not to mention the fact that I've grown to accept that being a horndog isn't just fun and comfy, but it's one of the greatest stress relievers I could possibly ever have. I'm not going to give that up - and if people have a problem with that, door's right there.

The fact that my kinks act as a permanent, seemingly insurmountable signal jammer for advertisers makes me almost as happy as the kinks themselves do; is it possible to have a fetish for ducking corporate influences, because if so I absolutely have it

I remember seeing a lot of younger furries on Twitter trying to get the attention and approval of journalists and other big heads, and it was very shortly after that that a lot of the in-fandom anti-kink sentiment started rearing its head again. Respectability politics just doesn't mesh with our scene, and it never will. The fandom's a lot more welcoming than it was back in the day, but the second you start trying to police who can be weird and how, and the whole thing buckles- ordinary people will always think we're weird, that's a feature.
