that no matter where you live in new york state (or if you work or go to school in new york state), you can get library cards at the new york public library, brooklyn public library, and queens public library, right on their websites? (yes, even if you don't live in new york city!)
and you can then use those library cards on either overdrive or the libby app to take out ebooks? so if your local library system's overdrive doesn't have a specific ebook, one of those NYC library systems' overdrive's might!
i don't know how broadly applicable this is to other states with big cities, but i wanted to post this in case you didn't know. i now have four library cards. i'm going to try to read a lot more in 2023! (i've started reading no gods, no monsters by cadwell turnbull, which would've required a hold at my local library system, but was available right away at qpl!)
