i think smartphones losing the headphone jacks back in the day was the initial catalyst for the growth of my anticapitalist sentiment. it was the first time i distinctly remember a tech company doing something as an “improvement” which literally just existed to push more expensive products. bluetooth headphones at the time were borderline useless and still today are mid at best. the latency is ass the sound quality isn’t nearly as good as a cable, and if you put a piece of paper between the phone and the receiver the connection falls apart. the only actual argument people cling to was the “it helps waterproof” even though that was clearly bullshit.

it was the first time where it clicked for me that their motive isn’t truly to make something better but solely to make more money. then i realized apple with their proprietary connectors and more and more companies making it harder to do even simple repairs. shit fucking sucks. support open source technologies
