i'm not sure if this phenomenon is real but did a lot of 2000s websites decide to close specifically in 2016? was there like a big attack or spike in costs or did a major provider shut down or something?

this should have been considered a crime. websites MASSIVELY pivoted to video because the numbers coming from Facebook were just so insanely high they were left feeling it didn't make sense to do anything else. which destroyed them

you can see the exact same tactic with Twitter today. there's no way the view numbers (which were added after Musk took over) aren't inflated to hell and back. there needs to be some level of accountability for this stuff

on top of pivot to video, a lot of people stopped having hobbies as they made stemming the tide of fascism into their hobby out of necessity. a good many of the posters and Good Writers then and now take the front lines due to a mix of social connections, early access to information compared to just watching the news, etc
