I rewatched Wrath of Khan today and was reminded how, top to bottom, it's a good movie. The sets, lighting, costumes, feel good and allow for some fantastic staging and framing, especially because 80% of the movie is people standing around and talking. There's one shot early on where Kirk is talking to Spock about their cadets being given a real mission that always stands out to me because for most of the scene's length, Kirk isn't in the frame save for his reflection in a mirror behind Spock. It's an interesting shot by itself and is also foreshadowing one of the most famous scenes in Star Trek: the two of them separated by glass as one of them dies
Also goddamn is the script tight. And about the Cold War. And about the nuclear bomb
