I am helping design a mech game now and (maybe a little thanks to the AC6 story details) have been having fun figuring out what to do about the connection between pilot and mech mechanically.
Folks I have approached this with the attitude of early Battletech pilots' relationship to ammunition: allowing you to eject all of it as the first action of a mission should that be desirable, with the conceit that doing that completely changes the kind of game you are playing when it comes to systems
