When I posted a while ago that they usually sleep like a row of spoons, this is what I meant. Although usually Mara is only in the middle in winter, for warmth purposes.

Nic initially built the bed to fit all three of them, because ze and Ayla kind of...took charge of Mara? To keep him out of trouble. Then Nic and Mara start having sex, and Ayla moves out, but almost as soon as her room is finished, she starts coming in for cuddles when eg, there's a storm and she can't sleep, or it's winter, or whatever.
Ayla does eventually have sex with Nic and Mara, but it is after like. 12+ years of marriage proving they won't push her into it. And it is contingent on them keeping their hands to themselves because the part that interests her is getting them off, not having them touch her, which feels less desirable to the point of grossness.
Ayla is basically stone ace, and sort of automatically moves into domme territory because of it. Nic and Mara's switchy asses are both delighted about this, although Nic does occasionally need help keeping zeir hands to zemself.
This is probably more shocking to the kids than anything else about their relationship, because "Mom doesn't have sex (unlike Dad and Nonna)" was like, a bedrock of their worldview.
