i really love kira in ds9 but it's frustrating how so many of her episodes start with her essentially regressing to the state she was at the start of the show, way more optimistic about state authority than she reasonably should be after so many episodes with a similar bent of her having to re-evaluate her position in the world. she usually promptly turns back into the kira we know and love and starts fucking stuff up but the first stage is often handled not very well, imo at least.

quark and odo are the protagonists of deep space nine. we just watched House of Quark in s3 and god, the writers are on an absolute roll with quark episodes. nothing but bangers
