Out of Curiosity, have you read Akagi yet? It's a gambling manga that revolves almost entirely around mahjong between some punk and the yakuza
i have watched the akagi anime but have not seen what happens beyond it. akagi is quite good though i do think akagi himself is maybe getting Beyond the normal mahjong experience by wagering his life every time.
