i will never understand how cohost decides whezher to notify you about someone sharing your post lol
do you have to have made zhe root post? or be one share above in zhe chain? or even more constraints??
SO!
There are two types of rechosts. There's "shares" and there's "replies". The difference between the two can best be observed by going to someone's blog and toggling shares and replies. "Shares" are posts you just rechost without adding anything to (tags don't count. I think). "Replies" are posts you rechost with something (so this would be a "reply").
When anyone rechosts a post you made, you get notified! "Replies" count as posts you made (you did add to it after all), so you get notified when someone rechosts a reply! "Shares" do NOT count as posts you made (you're jsut sharing someone else's post), so you don't get notified when someone rechosts a share.
With me so far? Good, because this is where it gets a little complicated.
What happens when someon rechosts a rechost? It depends if it's a "reply" or "share". I'm gonna talk about it in terms of ownership. When someone rechosts a post you "own", you get notified. When you make a post (or answer an ask) you own that post. If someone "Shares" a post, you still own that shared post. So if a someone else rechosts that "share", you still get notified! But, when someone "replies", they get ownership. If someone else were to rechost that "reply", you would not be notified. (here I must admit I'm not sure weather or not a recohst of a reply to your post would notify you if you made the root post. I only know that it works like this for "replies" you make.)
