i made another userscript for cohost! this one is very fun: you can choose your own name color!
if you have the script installed, it will look in people's bios for name-color: example1 and then color their names appropriately like so:
a screenshot of a post from @testbark. mentions of webark, testbark, and mehbark are all colored differently. very cool!

can't/don't want to install the extension? you can still set your name color just by having it in your profile. make sure it's on its own line!4 others with the extension will see your beautiful color shortly.2

if you do this, your username will be added to this stylesheet that powers the userscript, so if that's a problem, don't :P3

install (you'll need an extension)

drag to see the wonderful, magical, beautiful, awesome and transformative awesome wonder of the name-color system that is wonderful:

did you know that @webark was originally created by @mehbark? it's true! nowadays, @webark has many members, commonly referred to internally as "shards," such as @auramgold, @mehbark, and @testbark (okay, not that last one).

due to their inevitably tumultuous nature, @webark and its spinoffs, such as @webark-meta and @diarrhea-dogblast, are known to change handles often. they have even swapped in the past. not many accounts have name-colors so uh shout out to @LemmaEOF, @quae-nihl, @lillylillysheepy, @WillowDendro

do you already have a name-color and the userscript? how fun! here, enjoy a big block of your name-color:

in reply to @mehbark's post:

A lazy but valid solution would simply be to add a lightmode/darkmode variable to let users utilise color-mix to pick one of the 2 colours.
A more intuitive solution for the end user would be to add a second name-color-dark value that users can set, which will override name-color when darkmode is enabled.

True, the cherry background wasn't something I considered at first but fortunately never had any issues with myself. Im not sure if adding a third colour value for the profile page is a good idea.
Also im not exactly sure what you were referring to with "using that exact name at first"?
