seems like all the undertale/deltarune/oneshot/omori/indie rpgs what make you cry fans are going crazy about this one. i am also one of these people so this is of great note to me.

i tried the demo last night but i'm not sure it was a great gauge of the game considering it doesn't even have the core mechanic (time loops) in it. however the battle system seemed pretty well put together and the writing seemed pretty good too. if anyone has played isat and would like to advise me on this matter feel free. for context i loved the feeling of my soul being ripped from my body when i reached the ending of oneshot if that's helpful

also i hate grinding in rpgs which feels like it may be particularly relevant reading the steam reviews

As you note, it's a time loop game, so there's a fair amount of replaying fights you've fought before. It's absolutely used to support the emotion the game is driving at, and I wouldn't describe it as grinding. You never really need to just fight enemies to get your level high enough to beat a boss or anything like that, and you're able to flee every (non-boss) fight unconditionally. But your tolerance for this may vary.

But, that said. I am an enormous sucker for stories that introduce you to a bunch of lovable goofballs, get you to know them and make you care for them, and then make you feel sad about their problems and situations and relationships with each other. In Stars and Time hit harder on that metric for me than any other game I've played (including the four you listed at the top, each of which I'm also a huge fan of). There's a lot of other factors that go into that for me personally, but, yeah. Huge, huge recommend.

thank you for convincing me to buy this game, it's now in my coveted "yeah ok technically i didn't shed a tear but i got choked up and misty eyes at at least 1 point so in practical terms i might as well have cried" tier
