the twitter method isn't even good ("you will encounter several vague but forceful opinions on a breaking news story before you have enough information to search for an article") or particularly unbiased but it is, at least, not wholly owned by corporations and cops. idk, maybe there's a subreddit with the same type of information aggregating and half the brain inflammation

There's "good news only" subreddits like r/UpliftingNews but it's mostly just human interest fluff about water-skiing squirrels plus a whole lot of "Crowdfunding And Child Labor Pay For Homeless Man To Finally Have Surgery He's Needed For Ten Years," which is technically better news than if it didn't happen, but.

Anyway what I really need isn't relentless positivity but more just the same thing I want from the rest of my media consumption - I give you the money/views, you give me the thing, you don't completely ruin the thing to get an 0.1% marginal increase on money/views.

...Well, AP is relatively sober, they do have a pretty big Don't Worry, Important Adults Are Doing Serious Business bias, but at least their headlines aren't all written like they're a seventh grade snitch trying to start a cafeteria fight

oog. ugh. the grim dystopia of positive human interest stories.

I've also concluded that, since there's nothing I can fucking do about NEW 'TRANSGENDER REGISTRY' INTRODUCED IN SOUTH DAKOTA, etc., I don't really need or want to hear about it, but so far I haven't managed to find a source of "only the hate bills that are likely to pass"

oh SERIOUSLY, this is a thing that even (or especially) queer-specific news is awful about, like let me know if major actual changes are happening but not every time State Representative Grunt Brundlethorp (R - West Fucklesburg) introduces a no-hoper bill to make some sort of whiny point

(this is particularly bad living on the New Hampshire border, as the New Hampshire House is an extremely weird and way too large institution in an extremely weird state, and operates with the quiet dignity of 400 hogs trying to eat from the same slop bucket. someone just make AmIStillAllowedToPeeInNH.com and save me from the gruesome details)

it would be awesome if they interviewed someone like a rollercoaster designer or an engineer with actual expertise instead of putting in Josh27929836's uninformed take, but an engineer giving a reasoned explanation doesn't get as many clicks as socially acceptable bigotry.
