You'll ask your friends "hey am I crazy or ..." and they'll nod and go "I think so too" or they'll say "I didn't notice anything" because it turns out that they're using a different version that wasn't affected by the update, or it's actually part of an A/B test and you're in the Treatment group and they're in the Control group.

god, fuckin a/b tests. it's really great when rachel and i somehow get different versions of a website despite being in the same fuckin household! twitch has done this to us a few times in fun ways

like it was bad back in the day where it was a sudden, jarring change, like youtube's infamous redesigns. but these days it's all subtle micro-changes rolled out only a little bit at a time, reality being rewritten for people slowly just to make sure everyone goes insane
