I still maintain that the execution of about 3000 billionaires would fundamentally change global society so severely that we might enter into a new global golden age.

People always give me the "Oh my GOD you can't just kill people" without realizing every single one of these billionaires makes the conscious choice to kill thousands of people every single day, through inaction, through exploitation, through greed. Every one of them lays on top of a pile of bodies that grows by the day, and if you get rid of them, you stop the pile of bodies growing.

If your concern is saving the most lives, stopping billionaires from existing is the most expedient thing you can do to save the most lives possible.

billionaires should not be allowed to exist.

and all I can say is lol. lmao. just absolute comedy. just the richest of hilarious bullshit. 10/10. good fucking show.

They've got algorithms crawling locked accounts for anti-billionaire sentiment now. I am laughing so hard. I'm not even mad.

An excerpt from Seven Surrenders:

Tyrants and assassins have a great symbiosis. Assassins are always evil and despised (even when our effects are good we’re still a bad means to a good end) until tyrants crop up. Then suddenly assassins are heroes, lifelines; suddenly we alone have the power to save the world without a revolution and the destruction revolutions bring. You admit you need us. But, between tyrants, you forget that assassins will only be here, ready, when you want us if we’ve been here, ready, the whole time. You feel dirty keeping such a weapon in the house, but somebody has to keep one or it won’t be there when the bad wolf comes to huff and puff.

I always find that the easiest way to get sufficiently angry at billionaires to overcome the "but murder is bad" thing is to do some simple math to compare yourself to them. They have a horrendous, out-of-this-world unnecessary amount of money that no one has any right or even REMOTELY need to have. Elon Musk's net worth is 199 billion dollars. That is to say, he has $199,000,000,000 at his disposal.

The highest american minimum wage is apparently $15 an hour. Splitting a billion by that, to earn a single billion dollars, you would have to work 66,666,666 hours, split by 8 hour workdays that's 347,222 days, or 951 years.

For one billion.

If you have literally zero expenses.
And you most certainly work harder than that insufferable shitbag. You make 15 an hour(if you're lucky!), 30 an hour would change your life considerably, and this man just sits on almost 190,000 years' worth of your labor and you've seen what he does with it. And that's just one of em! There are several people with that kind of wealth!!

We have all the pieces of utopia just lying around. There is SO much wealth on earth. Everyone could be paid a living wage and THEN some. Climate change prevention could be financed a dozen times over, world hunger is entirely unnecessary, medical care could and should be free, but because of less people than populate the average small town, we cannot have it.

It's always the comfortably privileged who ignore forget the power dynamics in this capitalist and white supremacist hellscape.

  • Let's also take note of every damn time the wealthy use the system, exactly as intended, to keep the "lesser" people under foot before they take too much money and power from them. It's a regularly-scheduled power trip that gets eaten up by the average person.

My perspective is that it very much isn't "oh my god you can't just kill people!" from a moral perspective - I can and often will vigorously defend numerous post-revolutionary periods of "terror", it's that JUST killing people actually accomplishes very little. Killing 3000 billionaires would do surprisingly little to actually diminish the political clout or military power of billionaires as a class, and in fact wouldn't even really reduce the number of billionaires, bc it's not as if their holdings would suddenly be dissolved or distributed.

You gotta sieze power to make killing the billionaires actually stick, and siezing power in the first place is the hard part.

I DO think you could move the needle a great deal by killing just a few dozen of their most influential propogandists, however, many of whom are not actually themselves billionaires

In a realistic scenario, you're right, but also if we were to the point where we could actually exercise punishment on the billionaires the whole global power structure would have shifted so much that their own power would be incredibly diminished. We would have to break so many institutions and topple almost the entire global power apparatus to be able to inflict justice on these monsters anyway.

but if you're at that point, you can already just take their stuff away (or whatever) without killing them, meaning they can't do any further harm. so you're killing them just for the sake of killing them.

Okay, there's a non-dick way to do this and this isn't it. This was the first image I've uploaded to Cohost, I have absolutely no idea how to do alt text, wasn't prompted for it, and frankly overlooked it because I'm not used to doing it. (I'm not used to uploading images at all, I almost never do.)

The nice way to do this would've been like, "hey, could you add an image description?" And I'd have gone "Oh, shit, yeah sure!"

But coming in with some rant about power dynamics for someone you genuinely don't even know? Ain't it.

So yeah. I'm gonna add the image description, because I'm not a dick. But I'm also not going to take random assholery over it.

in reply to @nora's post:

I don't think it's wrong to assassinate a billionaire. I just don't think it's very effective, because it doesn't do much to disrupt the system of power and violence which creates them. The faces at the top are interchangeable cogs just like the exploited bodies at the bottom. There's something to be said for propaganda of the deed, though I think it works better when destroying vile capital infrastructure, like burning down police stations. Remember that from 2020? That was effective.

That said, a big part of the success of neoliberal ideology is looking invincible. The more destabilized from striking back, the less effective that world order would be. Likely it would shift the conflict to a more physical fight against states embracing outright authoritarian fascist measures to repress the population responsible for the attacks, which is not a good thing despite the way it simplifies matters.

Building up our mutual aid and dual power networks is always necessary, no matter what militant tactics might be used. It's what will show people there is an alternative, no matter what Maggie T said, and so when the figureheads and defenders of finance capital fall it won't turn into the end of the world in people's minds.
