Scarlet is the second Mercurian member of Red Raven, acting as its business face. Bearing the same ember eyes and sunstreaked hair, Scarlet is an old friend of Amy's, growing up on Mercury's polar ice caps and in its underground cities together. She has an untamed but very buttoned-down personality- always in control of how she presents herself but not willing to accept a domesticated lifestyle- which gives her a very confident presence. Scarlet is often an enabler for Amy's impulsiveness and even as adults the two like to stir up a bit of trouble together. Where Amy's Mercurian talents are in comprehending machines, Scarlet's allow her to see value, appraising the worth of any given object, the needs of any given person and the threads that connect the two. She can, for example, intuitively spot a forged piece of art as having less value than people assign it, or deduce a Hold 'Em player's hand when their valuation swells at the dealer's flop; she doesn't need to see what is printed on a given card, just that someone at the table values that particular card very highly all of a sudden and she puts the rest together from this information. Incidentally, Scarlet is an avid gambler and loves to spend time at Titan Garden's Mobius casino, a unique casino with a mobius strip floor geometry built around "The Twist" and a strategic arrangement of gravity wells that makes moving from game to game a seamless experience. Scarlet is naturally very well-acquainted with the Mobius's pit bosses.
Working as the crew's business front means Scarlet has plenty of excuses to stay back at Titan Garden, which suits her fine as she has a mild phobia of space travel which is often validated by the fact that Red Raven is often flying out to salvage lost shipwrecks out in the freezing void of space. She will board the Jackrabbit when she needs to but she would strongly prefer to stay away from any windows and will absolutely not set foot on the bridge, it is the one thing that will really push the limits of her buttoned-down control and confidence. This works out just fine, as Titan Garden is a major commercial hub, most of her trade contacts are on the station anyways. Her beloved fruit smoothies are also on the Garden- she loves to try fruits from all the Sol system's different worlds but has a particular fondness for Shakey's Smoothies in the market district.
Scarlet's Mercurian talent for appraisal makes her a very handy member of the Red Raven crew. When the Jackrabbit comes home with salvage Scarlet can comb through the findings and discern what could be easily resold with a little refurbishing from Amy and connect those things to a buyer who is just looking for that exact item, wow! Her valuation sight is exceptionally helpful when she liquidates the score from a heist job as well, as she can discern the values of a real fence from the values of an undercover cop. While there have been some close calls, having a Mercurian who can spot a cop who values the team members more than their score helps keep the crew one step ahead of the law. It's a strong enough skill that Scarlet will tolerate a ride through space in order to see a heist pulled off safely.
Amy and Scarlet have worked together on and off over the years, lifting fruity drinks from shops as kids, stealing trucks to race for cash as teens and bluffing their way into high society social events as young adults, they often like to push their luck and see what they could get away with and feel the pulse of being a living child of the sun. Often they'd branch out and do their own thing but find each other again and introduce the other to some new scheme, so it's no surprise that Scarlet would find her way onto the Red Raven crew. In this specific instance, she'd been pressing her luck at the Mobius and playing a little too hot; she'd been pulled into the casino manager's office a few times before but they never found proof of her cheating and they can't punish her for being from Mercury so they can't actually ban her from the casino floor, but it was strongly suggested that she pick up another hobby for her sake and for the sake of the casino. Keeping level and cool, she agreed with this assessment, stepped outside, bought a Callistan fruit smoothie and looked up what her old friend Amy was up to. Seeing she's on Titan and running a tow truck and salvage operation, Scarlet headed down to say hi and could tell on sight the gang was looking for a fence for something hot. Pin a nice gold pin on her lapel, she's ready to see what interesting stories she can shake out of this new chapter of her life.
