When arriving at the site of a distress call, Salamander Search & Rescue ensures it has staff ready at hand to address any medical issues that may require immediate attention, organic or mechanical., and so the team relies on P47CH. P47CH is an Android manufactured by Quasar Galactic Systems Specialists and designed to provide stabilizing medical care in remote locations far away from the sterile convenience of a surgeon's office, a role which is particularly valuable to Neptune's diamond mining industries. He is a good-spirited personality, recognizing that organic patients report sharp reductions in stress indicators when their care providers add a bit of humor to a practice of calm control, and these stress indicators stay level or increase if care providers are too grim or clinical in their mannerisms. P47CH wears a smile and will gently make light of a situation if he recognizes a joke or two is warranted; if it helps stabilize a patient's mental health then a bit of levity fits well into his mission parameters.
As a worksite health and safety droid, P47CH comes equipped with a suite of helpful features that allow him to quickly stabilize injuries in remote locations. Quasar has equipped P47CH with a suite of anatomical and physiological data for Medileer and Zephyleer Neptunians, as well as schematics for common Quasar Android configurations, but P47CH has since supplemented his database with the full range of lifeforms he might encounter in the Sol system- around twenty species and subvariants in total! His optics have diagnostic filters installed, allowing him to do things like scan pulse oximetry or detect broken bones non-invasively. Being a Quasar droid means P47CH has large audio receptors, and his let him detect breathing irregularities and heart problems, as well as listen for telltale signs of mechanical part breakdown inside Android patients. In addition to producing retractable claws, P47CH can choose to extend syringe injectors from his paws- he finds his patients prefer a spring-loaded sudden jab method to get it over with, but he can dose stabilizing medication or pain relief to a patient's size and prep a shot to be injected through a syringe claw as needed. All-in-all P47CH is built to assess and stabilize a patient's vitals before they are transported to more intensive care.
Between the three color-coded teams in the Salamander Search & Rescue crew, Yellow team represents medical staff. And between the two members of Yellow team, P47CH is the one who ventures out with Blue Team to be on hand to provide care when a distressed starfarer is searched and rescued, where his counterpart will wait on the Tardigrade with Red team for their arrival. Like a Zephyleer Neptunian P47CH can be quick on his feet when he has to, but sometimes unstable terrain or deep snow or hot rocks will make keeping up with Blue team a bit trickier, so in these cases P47CH is not above clamoring up Daisy's back and hitching a ride on one of her cushioned pauldrons. He does tend to reveal himself by scurrying out from behind Daisy once the pair arrive at Firefly's location, ready to lighten a mood that is often quite dark as the away team secure their patients. He doesn't mind if a starfarer mistakes him for a kind of funny Terran meow meow, if it makes them feel better to be treated by a big kitty cat and not a sophisticated example of Neptunian artistry and engineering, then that's just fine. They don't need to get all the details right to be treated by Salamander's field medic.
Where Firefly tends to clash with their counterpart in the Red Raven crew, P47CH tends to find himself sharing notes with the tow company's on-board doctor. Dr. Lin has a very specific interest in learning to treat Android patients, so having access to an Android field medic who has done their job opens the opportunity to ask all sorts of curious questions. P47CH likes Dr. Lin, and particularly likes the Terran teas Dr. Lin offers to share- it turns out feeding an Android with a biomass energy converter is just as effective at breaking the ice as feeding an organic starfarer. P47CH tends to describe medical unwellness from an Android's perspective- like their organic counterparts, damaged body parts can often send alarm signals to their central computers, which affect their decisionmaking subroutines. Find out what's broken, take weight off a stress point, stabilize damaged components and try to incur an All-Clear signal to alleviate the damage notifications. Make sure electrical flows are properly grounded and limiter circuits are functioning properly; if an Android is having electrical problems they will describe the sensation in similar terms to when a Terran has a fever, or they have bad gas. Heat sink and ventilation damage around an Android's core processor will often manifest as a feeling of lightheadedness, and alleviation of heat buildup can resolve these feelings reliably. Dr. Lin is always thankful for this kind of perspective, especially from a medical Android who understands both sides of the doctor-patient interaction. P47CH, in exchange, is thankful for the little treats Dr. Lin is always bringing him before asking his synthetic medical questions. He does, in fact, have flavor receptors and he can taste the care Dr. Lin puts into his choices. It's appreciated.
