Offering a truly one-of-a-kind dining experience, Ronaldo is the owner of Ronaldo's Retro-Future Restaurante: a taste of yesterday's tomorrow, today! A Venusian baker by trade, Ronaldo has a fascination with the cultures of many worlds prior to their ascent into the space age and what those cultures believed life in the future would look like. Ronaldo is very picky about minor details but is not overly strict about authenticity, which may seem like a contradiction but will hopefully make sense in the next paragraph. When he's not working his novel restaurant business Ronaldo loves to take in a stage play performance, having particular admiration for theatrical costuming- this, again, may make sense in a few more moments of reading. Yipyap rates Ronaldo's Retro-Future Restaurante at five barks out of five.

The idea of Ronaldo's Retro-Future Restaurante has deep roots in the imagination of sentient life throughout the Sol system. It's easy to imagine the future of one's world as being exotic and alien to what we presently know; our fashion choices, our architecture, our infrastructure could all be radically changed by the innovations and discoveries of our future generations. Creative imaginations love to take glimpses of these futures, following the sprawling oak tree of progress up its trunk and down this branch or that, envisioning a future where everything we know today is obsolete and ridiculous. Much has been written about what we will do, what we will ride, how we will communicate and what we will wear, but for Ronaldo, what's really fascinating is the underappreciated idea of what our ancestors thought we would Eat in the far-future world of 2389 TC. And at Ronaldo's Retro-Future Restaurante you can quite literally have a taste of fine dining your ancestors have surely dreamed of.

As mentioned above, Ronaldo is picky about minor details but he isn't particular about authenticity. Ronaldo understands that what we remember imagining is more important than what we actually imagined, and as long as you hit the right details the mind will fill in the gaps in the most agreeable way possible. The truth is what our ancestors imagined us eating isn't necessarily always good or healthy or even very tasty, what they imagined was that it would be weird and alien to them. Ronaldo will very carefully study old fiction to see what people thought we'd be eating, but he isn't going to follow their recipes exactly, he's going to modify them to capture the spirit of their vision while using Venusian baking techniques to create something that is tasty and desirable to an existing, living person of today. As a rule he builds his recipes around three major detail elements: form-factor, shape and color.

At Ronaldo's Retro-Future Restaurante you have a broad range of menu items to choose from, and they offer a number of different culinary experiences. As an unusual form-factor some meals are available as an arrangement of capsules, which can be swallowed with a glass of flavored liquid to create a warm and filling sensation inside your tummy. Old fiction often envisioned the capsule meal as just a single bite, but a proper meal needs time to eat, so an arrangement of capsules designed to be filling are offered so a diner can take their time enjoying them while having a bite of some side food as well. Shape is a big factor too- across many worlds sentient cultures imagined future food as being oddly geometric in shape, smooth and faceted or cylindrically round. Cube foods, round foods and even dodecahedrical foods are available at Ronaldo's, tasty to eat but prepared explicitly to present a shape a diner has never seen before. And lastly, color plays a huge role in Ronaldo's meal designs- there are a few colors which are broadly naturally occurring, like greens, reds, yellows, oranges, but rarely do we see teals, pinks and purples. Ronaldo chooses color arrangements that one might think are chemical or artificial, but are in fact brought out using rich natural ingredients from Venus to give a strange and otherworldly appearance to very tasty and very edible food. It's a very meticulous aesthetic, but what's important is that the food is actually good to eat. This is Ronaldo's way.

To help really sell the atmosphere, Ronaldo's Retro-Future Restaurante has two sections. The front section is decorated to match the feeling of the food on the menu while retaining modern sensibilities, but for a small service fee diners can opt to rent the back room and really immerse themselves in yesterday's tomorrow! Dialing the experience to the top end, the back room portrays an all-enclosing dining experience in a recreated retro-future vision of today, going so far as to offer a wardrobe of style-appropriate retro-future clothing for diners to wear before entering the back room itself. Flowing lights, chirping clicks, holographic projections and broadcast recreations of fictional events play on colorful screens. Ronaldo's interest in theatrical costume and set design really comes forward in creating the immersive retro-future back room and fans of the restaurant love it! Timberwolf's ace pilot Mahnoor is a huge fan of Ronaldo's, making a practice of bringing the whole Timberwolf team out to dress up and dine about once every month or so. Red Raven's own Slug has wanted to try it for their team, but Scarlet absolutely refuses to set foot in the back room or dress up in any sort of silly costume. That's fine! You can stay in the present. For Timberwolf Reclamation & Demolition, there will always be a welcome table at yesterday's tomorrow!

Dress up, let your hair down- or up!- and enjoy an experience unlike anything you'll find anywhere outside of Titan Garden. It might look strange, but believe me: the food is actually really good!
