Marcel is a Mercurian resident of Titan Garden. He is the station's Harbormaster and a founding member of the Titan Dockworkers Union. As Harbormaster, Marcel oversees the orderly docking and launching of starships in Old Titan Station as well as commercial traffic between docked vessels and the Garden dome; overall Marcel is the guy who makes sure everyone can get into and out of Titan Garden safely. Marcel has an energetic personality- he takes his duties seriously but carries a light heart about his business, he doesn't mince words and he doesn't speak softly, but he's at his happiest when his harbor is in its flow state and everyone's on the same rhythm. Unlike his friend Carol, Marcel is an excellent singer.
Being Mercurian means Marcel- like his friends Amy, Scarlet and Jack- has an innate comprehension of some abstract concept. Marcel's ember eyes can perceive the forces of gravity, a skill that proves extremely useful working as station Harbormaster. Seeing gravity means he can see the weight and density of objects and the pull when a stack of objects becomes unstable and leans to tip over. He describes his sense as seeing the "spheres" around everything, describing weight as thickness and stability as color. Marcel will not hesitate to stop a loader if he sees a flatbed of cargo is stacked unsafely, as he always prioritizes the health of his crew over the health of their cargo.
When he's not on the clock Marcel likes to pursue some of his hobbies, his favorite of which is collecting antique Terran media, particularly recordings of old music recitals. Second-hand shops and a few independent record stores on Titan usually have some interesting items in stock, sold by Terran travelers or acquired from salvage companies. Marcel will occasionally pop by Red Raven looking for Amy to help get some piece of antique tech working, usually a chunky media player box of some kind. Amy will literally drop everything to help Marcel out, because the relics he digs up are always so interesting she's gotta have a look for herself right away.
Marcel's got broad tastes- art is a banquet of many flavors- but his favorite of all is an old Terran musical style called "drum and bass". He'll plug in an old Jungle Beats cartridge and let it rip; he says the music feels like rolling on tidal waves of gravity, it hits just right. He's got himself a crossfader and has learned how to blend one track into another, going through his collections to find good matches and jotting down lists of tracks that blend well together. Marcel loves sharing what he's found with his friends, so once a month he likes to bring out his antique hardware and put on little shows in the dockyards for his crew and his workers. He always invites his Mercurian friends to invite their friends out to the show as well, and Amy and Jack will show up whenever they can- Scarlet usually sits out unless the whole Red Raven team is going out together, since she won't want to be seen as the only one staying home. It's always a great time, though, it keeps the spirits high in the Dockyards and it brings Marcel's crew together as one family, united across all lines. It keeps everyone on the same rhythm, and the ships run smoothest when the station's in it's flow state. And after all, keeping the flow is what a good Harbormaster does, right?
