S41NT is an Android living on Titan Garden, and he is an unmistakable presence at the Ox & Carriage. Originally manufactured by Quasar Galactic Systems Specialists, S41NT was designed as an accounting droid, having a remarkable capacity for data collection, organization and cross-reference between multiple internal processors and storage drives protected by Neptunian encryption protocols. While he was initially built with starship inventory and cargo manifest in mind, S41NT has found a more interesting career in organizing local business interests and protection of shopowners from threats or extortion. Space is an isolating and lonesome place, and if some outside influence has sufficient force and intent it can be easy to throw their weight around and take advantage of a local community; S41NT represents an organization who offers protection from said influence, ensuring Titan's businesses stay free and independent. He doesn't show up at the Ox & Carriage often, but when the brassy business droid makes an appearance the locals know there's an opportunity for a very big payday on the horizon.
- S41NT can be contacted about enlisting a local business in his employer's protection scheme.
- S41NT hires local talent with unique skillsets for dangerous but extremely lucrative jobs.
Like the android EV3R, S41NT was created by Quasar Galactic to fulfill both planetside worksite and long-haul starship administrative duties. Where EV3R is a risk assessment droid built for early detection of potential danger through sensory data collection, S41NT's data management utility allows him to quickly work with very large and intricate arrays of data points- normally this would include things like a starship's maintenance schedule, which parts have been serviced from what batch on which day, referenced against manufacturer recall notices and predicted wear & tear projections. Instead S41NT uses his suite of software to keep data on which businesses are enrolled in protection, who has paid protection money, who is delinquent in their payment, who among the local villains specializes in what talents and who can be trusted to do a job discretely and professionally. S41NT's employers prefer to maintain a low profile so they rely on the Neptunian android to ensure contractors are up to standard and will not embarrass or expose them in the course of completing a job. They pay a premium for this level of professionalism.
Inner Belt people often mistake Quasar droids for being big cat people, but they were designed as a collaboration between the two Neptunian species to take on an appearance somewhere in between the raptor-like avians and the hare-like tunnelers without explicitly being one or the other; they insist they have designed a new, original aesthetic and that each unit is itself a work of sculptural art, and it has never been a problem until Neptunians began doing business with their Inner Belt neighbors. One must not, under and circumstances, refer to them as "a funny metal meow-meow" or inquire if they "would like a big blue-na tuna fish". Terran sea life burns very cleanly in an android's biomass energy converter, of course they would appreciate the big fish, but please make such an offer in a manner befitting a grown-up.
S41NT is well-acquainted with both the Timberwolf Reclamation & Demolition crew and the Red Raven Towing & Salvage company. The former are very professional smugglers and associates of Baxler, able to quietly transport hot or controlled product around and through tight security networks; the latter are professional thieves on good terms with Mitsuko, able to extract valuable items from heavily fortified locations. Both groups go to great lengths to avoid bringing violence into their operations and that has earned them considerable respect with S41NT's employers, and so they are occasionally enlisted for big jobs on tight schedules. When a rival tries to muscle in and make Titan Garden their own, S41NT's employers let them know that Titan is not free for the taking by stealing a proverbial rib out from under them. On a few occasions this has meant Timberwolf and Red Raven collaborating on a heist job passing a baton off to a smuggling job, which means Bryce and Amy have to be on their best behavior and get along for the duration. Their respective teams are rivals, not foes, so it isn't hard to get them working together- these are all known points on S41NT's data sets, and in spite of their rivalry he still assesses them to be trustworthy contractors. An appearance by the brass cat usually means a big payday, so when he stops by the Ox & Carriage everyone is on their best behavior.
