for one of my games at one point....
Seems like it would be both fun and a good career-related learning experience.
First I need to learn more about manual and box production, I think. Any tips?

Have you seen these people making insert for audio tape box to hold GB games ?
I think the best part of cassette is its size. It fit nicely in one hand, you get enough space on the box for decent artwork or handwriting what is on it, it's small enough to hoard a bunch.
If you remove the two plastic bits inside the box, you can fit a GB cartridge inside. People have been adding 3D printed plastic insert to hold the cartridge in place and add a jacket so it looks good.
That's might be too much work/not standard enough for a big quantity but maybe for a small serie or for a fanzine-style release with an digital version of manual, game and insert plus instruction how to put together a physical version out of that.
food for thought
Oh this is a great thought! I have seen these but didn't think of them; might be a good fit for my type of diy game, too
If you want to stay true to the original packaging, analogue.co ship a cardbox for a snes game with their super nt so maybe they would share tips about printing nice box if asked?
Thank you for the tips, both of these are good ideas to look more into!
