###The Cohost Global Feed

They need to teach kids HTML in school so they don't have to be chained by social media. We need websites. Neocities honestly does such a good job at merging the two. You make fun websites but also there is a feed showing you when your favorite website updates!

And best part is that if you're an artist that doesn't like that your website gets shown to a feed whenever you update you can just TURN IT OFF. Options! Wow!

Genuinely this is my final battle cry to all those sad about cohost dying... get on neocities. HTML isn't that hard to learn. I'm a certified dumbass no coding-knowing dweeb and I was able to figure tons of stuff just by googling "how to [x] in html" there are a mountain of resources that you can just straight up copy and paste.

Also the community on there is cool, at least from what I've experienced. So many people will check out your site just because you updated it since Neocities has a "recently updated" search. It's so easy to find people who are just vibing on there. It's great.

please please please, give Neocities a thought if you're suffering from thoughts of "my favorite social media is dying and I don't wanna jump to a different dying social media website" once you have that full control and can personalize your own space, you'll see how bad social media limits you.

Hello Cohost and future internet archeologists,

I am posting here while I am still able! This is a bit dramatic but this seemed fitting to myself for a proper send off for this place.
I never interacted much here but I did visit when I fancied. Even with the limited amount of interaction I have had over the 2 years being here I can tell I am gonna miss this place and everything it is and was.

In the past when a place shuts down or decides to become evil we have had places to migrate to. The internet is big after all and there is plenty of opportunity for more communities to grow but, I dunno, this feels different. Cohost will be shutdown soon and I myself cannot suggest the next contender to shift to after what this place offered.

We have sites that are superficially close to the same, but they don't have the staff or the community that made this place.

Cohost is Cohost, here and only here.

Already I have drooled out more than I expected to about Cohost going away, it is surprising to me honestly. I guess a thank you is in order then, for everyone involved in showing what can be possible in this Web3.0 world, that some part of the old internet is still here in spirit.

If you wish to find me I will still be around, I am not hard to find. But here are some links if you have the need:

newgrounds.com
bsky.app
spacehey.com(I haven't touched this since I set it up!)
twitter.com(I refuse to call it X...)

So I guess this is it! I hope the work done here by ASSC finds a good home and that we will see it used respectfully in the future and not just a zombie of a loved one.

Thank you for everything,
Goodbye Cohost.❤

(this post is one of the few posts in my drafts that is in a postable state. figured it wouldnt hurt to try and get some cohosties TTON-pilled on my way out)

if the town of nowhere was as popular as disco elysium, no would have had a fighting chance against harry in tumblr’s Poor Little Meow Meow competition:

  • they’re canonically trans so they have that leg up in the competition
  • their first interaction with someone in town is them walking in on a cannibal preacher eating someone, and their first thought is “i want to suck his dick”
  • their second interaction with someone in town is a fairy stealing their name and forcing them to finish her shift at starbucks
  • their name is no1, which means when the fairy steals their name, they literally forget the concept of saying no to people
  • their name is no where. they’re canonically trans and named themself no2
  • they eat dirt
  • for Gameplay Reasons, they start walking around backwards while looking in a compact mirror
  • when arrested by a cop for an alleged break-and-enter and bank robbery (two separate crimes) they tell the cop that they’re too stupid to pull that off because they eat dirt
  • with said break-and-enter, the first thing they did after breaking-and-entering was raid their brother-in-law’s fridge because they havent eaten in like 24 hours
  • why havent they eaten in 24 hours? the 300-or-so people controlling their brain forgot to feed them
  • their brother in law, who married no’s twin sister, accuses them of being his wife because he doesn’t remember marrying her3 and their response is “yeah i can be your wife if you want”
  • their parents never pick up when they call, even when they are possibly about to go on a suicide mission
  • when they lost their apartment, they decided to move across the largest state in the continental USA on the vaguest hope that they MIGHT have had a sister who MIGHT have offered them a place to stay instead of moving back in with their parents
  • crying is permitted by the DM as a free action

  1. they were also almost named vriska. and komaeda (i think).

  2. i dont remember who said this or if this is just something my brain made up, but iirc someone said “of course they named themself no, what else is a name but something people yell at you when you make bad decisions?”

  3. its complicated. watch the town of nowhere and find out why!

its because when you post them, they get put on cohost at the time when you CREATED THE DRAFT, not WHEN YOU HIT “POST NOW”. i did not post this “one year ago” i posted this TWO MINUTES AGO but it got put on my page (and your dashes) amongst OTHER YEAR-OLD POSTS. similar issue to the “if you like a post from a year ago, it gets buried in your likes among the other year-old posts and not put on the top” thing
