###The Cohost Global Feed

also: ##The Cohost Global Feed, #The Cohost Global Feed, #Global Cohost Feed, #The Global Cohost Feed, #global feed, #Cohost Global Feed

it was nice while it lasted.

i am going to keep posting on here until the bitter end obviously. and i'll probably be making a pillowfort since it looks like tumblr might actually be dying for real. and i'll be archiving specifically my magnus protocol posts. and then....idk? if not pillowfort, mastodon? or maybe i'll finally get around to finishing my website? i'm so tired.

i just realized i've been on here a few months at most. damn.

A confused ferret

Sooo I noticed multiple people expressed interest in making their own feed files. I have experience in writing these manually out at first, so sure, I'll add to the noise here. Specifically, I'm not going to talk about what it is or how you would host one, or why it's useful. Instead, I'm going to focus on how to work with an ATOM file since that's probably less talked about.

If I sound like a complete sap, honestly, good I think. I like bein' sincere. And occasionally ramblin' without any really planned layout as I discover I want to add more to the post and then attempt to reorder it to make coherent sense and good wordflow (I'm not a writer.)

Cohost isn't goin' to immediately disappear overnight, it'll still be here for a while and you'll get to scroll and see people post mostly as normal, I for one don't think I'll get rid of the button on my phone that opens cohost as its own Firefox window even after the year ends, but it has honestly made me realise one thing I hope I do remember to do.

If you think somethin' is cool, talk about it before it's gone.

Tell the creator, your friends, the communities you're a part of or lurk in, people who you think would like it, people who can also share that interest with other people and expand their communities. Tell anyone at all. Tell Everyone.

Cohost let me find people through a nice li'l tag system in a way that I might be able to get from another site, but its also felt really personal even if I have rarely talked to people at all on the platform.
I found artists that I already knew of elsewhere, but was happy to see on the platform, I found new streamers and content creators that the tools and discoverability of those websites would never let find otherwise and they're people I'll always tune in to, it's made me want to get back into TTRPGs and look into more systems than just playin' 5e again, and again.

I'm not gonna forget cohost, this website is absolutely wonderful. I'm not gonna forget the people I've followed, asks I've sent, posts I've liked, posts I've shared.

I can easily say I have regrets with usin' some social media sites, I outright quit the Bird App because I could use cohost instead, and thankfully I'll not go back to it, but I can happilly say I'll only have three regrets about my time here;

  • I'll regret that I didn't post more about the things I found interestin', as it'd likely get me to keep those projects goin' rather than droppin' them less than a month in.
  • I'll regret that I never tried to learn CSS so I could take part in CSS crimes, and so that I'd have the knowledge to then make my own website with some of the knowledge gained from that, but I can work on that now.
  • I'm gonna regret not buyin' that Eggbug plush.
