Very, very sad about all this. Was starting to make some good memories.

Never really cared about numbers.

I once had a webcomic that barely had any visits.
It was simply an excuse to come up with something funny and draw it every week.

Also had a blog where I'd make both short and long form posts.
Again, no visits, just a place where I could practice writing and structure my thoughts about things that peaked my interest.

They were enjoyable pastimes up until I stopped updating them.

Yet, they always felt lonely, not because people didn't see my stuff, but because talking about someone else's cool stuff wasn't the same as telling them how cool their stuff was.
And I for sure wasn't going to jump into their own personal blog's comments and post a link to my blog or write a giant post.

The other places—either due to their confusing layout, bad vibes, or awful editing tools—never worked for me.

One that got close was the Destructoid Community Blogs circa 2008, of all things. You could do some fun html crimes in them as well.

A real shame, I was getting that itch back to write more longform stuff again.
The ones I wrote, I didn't even try to replicate on Mastodon—I'd just write a short blurb with a link to here.

Gonna miss this place—of being able to read through short and long posts in the same feed...
Of different tones and subjects that felt more personal and warm than snarky and mean...
Of commenting on them, adding to them or just simply sharing and liking them...
And of the people that I got to know, that will probably not going to be doing the same sort of writing like they did here, because nowhere else offers the same combination of features like Cohost does.
