Cohost is the only place on the internet where I was able be myself and post just about anything I want, without feeling closed in by decades of internet baggage. Every interaction here was meaningful, and I learned way more from one random like or comment than I did from dozens of "viral" notifications elsewhere, and I felt like people who followed me were actually interested in what I said and did.

Even though this has probably been inevitable for a while. (The default end result for a new social media site is "Total failure". And what would have been this site's big notable financial moonshot had to be caveated with "America Only sorry! <3" long before it was finally canned.) It's still incredibly depressing to see it go. I had expected the site to circle the drain for a bit longer.

I'm not sure where I'll end up posting. I lost track of a lot of people I followed via the slow demise of Twitter. Additionally, I don't feel like I will be able to express myself or my work in the same way anywhere else.

I'd also like to mark this occasion by dabbling in the forbidden tags for their intended purpose: "Hating"

There's a small, but dedicated, cohort of pathetic and wretched villainy here. Whose main objection seemed to be that they had the tools to ruin Cohost for other people taken away from them.

In this case, it's refreshing to know that Cohost was doomed from the start. And that these people achieved nothing but their own misery. I wish them nothing but ill will.

Another great thing about Cohost is that (aside from the inexplicably huge preview window) it was pretty much the best site to just post something and share with other people elsewhere on the internet.

Goodbye, Cohost! 👋🥺

I liked it here. Not that I posted much, or even got to post my NSFW art (not that I ever finished it tbh)! But I made some really great connections here and I would hope to keep them! So, if y'all are interested in keeping in touch, you can find me here:

Keep in mind, however, that I'm not super active on any social media. I wasn't even super active here, but I can say I was more present here than anywhere else. I barely use Bluesky and am toying with deleting that, so take its inclusion with a grain of salt. Same thing with Mastodon, which I just got today - we'll see if I actually use it.

Also, my neocities site is fairly barebones right now - I'm still working on making the gallery page responsive and attempting to add comments and such, so bear with me there, Im a bit rusty with html/css coding (I learned to code 15 years ago so now my knowledge is basically obsolete - w3shools is my saving grace right now. we do go waaaay back to. My teacher had us using this for our homework and shit). ANYWAY.

Well, it's been real. I'll probably stay on until the last week of September, then it's lights out here. Thank you to everyone who shared my art and boosted/donated to my mutual aid posts. It was a real treat for me, to say the very least. Thank y'all from the bottom of my heart 🥰 and take care.

Don't have a website?

Get started with one of these free options so that your friends and followers can find any of your social media accounts get hacked, banned, deleted, or something else happens. It doesn't have to be fancy. Just something that you can update with your current info and other people can bookmark.

Mmm.page: Really easy drag and drop website platform. No coding required.
Carrd.co: This is a "link in bio" services. No coding requires
Neocities: Small website builder in the spirit of GeoCities. Coding required.

There are other options out there as well. Blogger still exists if you don't mind using a Google service, Github has free basic website hosting if you are willing to program, and Dreamhost has a few paid Wordpress options that isn't associated with Wordpress.com's parent company. There are a bunch of services like Carrd.co and Linktree but I can't verify who is behind them. It is better to have something to start with than nothing at all.
