I hate Twitch, mind you; the no-lifer userbase might have a lot of good people here and there, but is overwhelmingly filled by rancid little shitheels who screech and troll and play PVP-only griefing games like Rust. I don't want to court an audience there.
Youtube's not much better; broader audience, lower shitheel-to-regular-viewer ratio, sure, but Youtube's so shit for streaming, because it wasn't built for it. Plus, Youtube (google) fucking sucks as a company, and keep trying to cram more and more ads into videos; I can't even watch a livestream on my current adblocker setup w/o jumping to a ublock origin only private window, b/c something I use causes YT to completely lock up if I try to watch a livestream on it.
But, again, like Cohost, there's not really another place that caters for what I want. Discord won't do; it's friends only, and that's not the point. I want safe discoverability, which I one thousand percent know is a true contradiction, but Cohost managed it by being small-ish, and having a mostly chill crowd. That just can't be found anywhere else. It's all either too big, or too small.
Not like I have the time or energy anymore to stream. Being a live-in carer for my partner means I don't get swaths of hours in my day that can be totally uninterrupted. If I ever went back, I'd have to have some kind of clearly stated, well known policy and ritual around being able to completely pause the stream (still live) whenever I want, for however long I need to, and somehow retain an audience.
Another very solid contradiction. Still possible to be true, but something you have to do the whole Streamer Grind for, and then prestige it to unlock the 'dedicated-enough audience to tolerate your weird ADHD schedule'.
Heh. Little incremental game joke for you. Bet you didn't know I was into those, huh. Fucking love 'em, so long as they're not just number-go-up. Kittens Game, A Dark Room, Level13, etc. More Incremental/Unfolding game, less Idle Clicker.
FUCK. Where the fuck else am I gonna long-form ramble like this. Am I really gonna have to consider tumblr? Fuck.
