Hi, I'm leivathan! At time of writing, I'm a 25 year-old Korean American who's been playing classical piano for 21 years. I enjoy music, food, movies, books, games, art, and basically everything else; though I probably enjoy thinking about things more (as much as one can enjoy something they feel absolutely compelled to do by every fiber of their being). I'm willing to try anything once. This site seems cool, I'm excited to start posting!
I largely lurked on this website, enjoying what other people's good posts and what they thought were good posts. I have trouble making Art On A Computer, vocalizing my thoughts, and having good original thoughts of my own that aren't in response to something else. I was also socialized into social media through reddit, which instilled a performative combativeness and a reticence to display oneself earnestly (I'm also sad to say I do still use it (do not find me there, or if you do please tell me to get off), though it feels like poison I'd rather do that than work) that led me to be hesitant with the idea of interacting on cohost more deeply. But around 5 months ago I started dabbling with engaging more, and from there till the end I do have to say it felt pretty good finger-guns. This was a good place, and I had a good time here. I'd say it's number 5 on THE LIST.
I think I'll abuse the asks function to send the people I follow thank-you notes.
I also tried to make Art On A Computer. Yesterday I couldn't stop thinking about Stevie Wonder's song Isn't She Lovely, and I couldn't stop singing a rewrite I did in my head called Wasn't It Lovely about looking back and reminiscing (specifically about cohost, but I wrote it pretty broadly, which is ironic for such a specific song). After the Boston cohost Wake, I wanted to record it and post it here, but: 1. I had to hear myself singing, the embarrassment of which overrides any compliments I've ever received on my singing in my life, and 2. I don't know how people get songs without the vocals so it wouldn't have had a backing track. So instead I'll just post the lyrics from my notes app. They're below the cut, bc they're also embarrassing (in a way I could tolerate). They don't all scan great, but I hope you like it!
Anyway, thanks for the website everybody!
