today's portrait is for Sidra, my friend Alaa Abdelgawad's daughter. (i also included a portrait of Sidra i drew previously and never shared to the public.)

Alaa is the fellow i posted about before, who was locked out of his original campaign by its founder. he and his brother, my buddy Mohammed, are each responsible for evacuating a portion of the Abdelgawad family.

the good news is, Alaa's replacement campaign is making progress. he has raised about half of his original funds back! the bad news is, "half of his original funds" is only €520, or about $577.

Alaa needs $5000 to evacuate one person in his family to Egypt. we've got a long way to go - but we'll be here to support the Abdelgawads every step of the way. and you can be part of the effort!

tumblr paints a bleak picture of the future, but the kids are fine. they're have neocities websites, they're using firefox and ublock origin, they're playing games on emulator, and queer kids like i was are coming out even if its just to themselves. they're drawing, they're painting, they're playing fitgirl repacks, they're fine.

as adults, it's our job to make sure they STAY fine.
