ANGR - III
Thirty minutes of black metal with pronounced death metal elements, III is a bleak descent into the abyss. ANGR's music has an aura of malevolence and dread that's palpable throughout the album. Recommended.
Blind Monarch - The Dead Replenish The Earth
Somehow I missed this a few weeks ago when it was released digitally, but fortunately I caught it this week when the physical albums dropped. Crushing, mournful doom metal, The Dead Replenish The Earth is simultaneously colossal, gloomy, and devastating. Blind Monarch is fucking killing it, recommended.
Green Tripe - bong surfing
Psychedelic heaviness from Japan, Green Tripe walks the line between stoner rock and sludge metal on bong surfing. I found the harsh, gravelly vocals complimented the fuzzy guitars nicely. Spark that bowl up and crank the volume, space awaits.
Witch Ghetto/Obsidian Temple - Split
A split between two bands playing black metal with punk undertones, I enjoyed this more than I expected. Witch Ghetto gravitates toward the punk side of things, while Obsidian Temple is more raw black metal. Both are solid bands, you’ll want to check this out if you’re into this type of music.
