That Old Story

There are three men in a room. One is seated at a massive table overflowing with food. He is old, gluttonous, and extremely obese.

Behind him are his two slaves. The short slave on the left is hungry. The large slave on the right is also hungry. They only eat when the man at the table drops some food on the floor. They both hate the man at the table for making their lives unbearable.

Quick witted that he is, the slave on the left looks over the table, and then at the number of people in the room. He leans over to the slave on the right and whispers, "You know, the two of us can easily kill this asshole and share the food between us. We can both eat well and we'll get rid of our oppressor at the same time."

The slave on the right turns bright red and yells, "YOU WOT MATE?! RULE BRITANNIA!" and then leaps forward to kill the slave on the left. The slave on the right isn't particularly smart, but he can count and he's come to the conclusion that if he kills off the other slave he'll have twice as many crumbs.

Also he doesn't like the pigmentation, belief system, accent, and gender of the other slave and wanted to kill him anyway.

At this point you're saying, "This parable is so old Indiana Jones is fighting Nazis for it." And I say to you in response, "Yes, but, do you know the final part?"

The obese old slave owner stops eating just long enough to lean over and say to the two slaves fighting to the death, "As an enlightened centrist I think you're both exactly the same. Talk it out like civilized people and stop disrupting my meal."

Then he goes back to enjoying a status quo that works for him, thus it works for everyone.

The point? The comic above is over a century old and nothing has changed because most people don't want it to. Eat your crumbs.
