ok so. steam curators are like Reviews Plus. they're essentially a reviewer that you can follow on steam so you can get their Hot Takes.

the issue is that 1: anyone can make them. 2: theyre placed above reviews, like they're some kind of authority. 3: they don't even have to buy the game they're reviewing.

this has lead to such delightful groups as "DEI detected", "woke vs beautiful" and "ESG corpos" spamming games with even a hint of not-straight-white-guy-ness with negative reviews.

recently @daffodil, the creator of street uni x, has been harassed because she got funding from a company that previously worked with the current Gamer Boogeyman "sweet baby inc."

a huge chunk of the curators (7 out of 12) are negative reviews because of this. it's complete culture war bullshit that affects developers negatively.

i have only seen a handful of good curators, a huge amount are bullshit.
they're either Gamer nazi fucks giving negative reviews to games because they feature a gay person, shithead memelords thinking it's funny to give a negative review to a game because "there's no toilets!!!!" or the most dogshit takes youve ever seen in your life.

it's yet another stupid idea that valve didn't think out properly.
