Think the Bangladeshi kid at the Tim Hortons raised the price of their medium double doubles and are angry at them instead of the Tim Hortons company that raised the prices.

Think the Sikh guy at the grocery story has been fixing the high cost of bread over the past 20 years instead of Loblaws and fellow companies who were doing it openly. They want to kick him out of Canada instead of throwing some bricks through the window of the local Superstore.

Think the Chinese family living in the apartment below them are the reason their rent went up massively over the past five years. This instead of blaming their landlords who raised rents because they want to get as much money as possible out of people who have few to no options about where they live. So they get angry at Chinese people instead of their landlords.

See their boss preferring to import low wage workers from the global south over giving them a cost of living raise. They get angry at the imported workers instead of their greedy boss. They also see some girl from the Ukraine working a service job they refused to apply for because of the shit salary and think she's to blame for it instead of the people employing her at half price.
They don't think that? They sure been acting like they do. Canadians have been doing all of this since the first Chinese workers showed up to build our railroads, and yet have the audacity to claim they're not running on bigotry.
Canadians are going to vote for the Conservative Party this coming election because the Liberal Party made things worse. They voted for the Liberal Party the last time because the Conservative Party made things worse. Before that they voted for the Conservatives because the Liberals made things worse. This goes back to the founding of Canada and not a single voter is able to see the pattern of both of those parties acting in exactly the same way every single time they gain power.
Pity we no longer have a viable third party.
Maybe one day Canadians will live up to the myth of enlightenment we've created for ourselves, but the trajectory is ever downwards. Easier to get angry at an immigrant instead of taking on the actual people causing the problems to begin with.
