If you want to know why maisonettes/connected units are a fucking mistake, one need only sit in our unit for today, where, next door, they are doing jackhammer-on-connected-brick-wall level work.
They started at 7am. It is almost 4pm. Thankfully this only happens once every few weeks, but my fucking god, we're both ready to rip throats out. I pray they're close to done with this part of the renovation.
There's no hiding from it. There's no escaping it. It enters every window, and when those are all blocked off, it just reverberates through the brick itself like a fucking demonic robot woodpecker.
Connected homes without a sound buffer should be illegal. They don't need to have a whole fucking yard and fence or w/e, but at least a fucking airgap to stop this shit.
