TL;DR, Myrient for games, Zophar's Domain for emulators. Is this piracy? No, it isn't.

I feel like fewer people than I think actually know about the Redump Hoard and the No-Intro Collection. These are media archiving consortia who specialise in last-gen console games. Redump deals with disc-based consoles, while No-Intro deals with cartridge-based ones. Sure, you can get this content from the Internet Archive, but sometimes, especially with larger files, it can get abysmally slow, like <56k speeds.

This is what Myrient is for. Myrient is essentially an FTP-over-HTTP server that has the exact same data as the Redump and No-Intro Archive.org collections, only with faster download speed. You can't get current-gen games from there (Switch, PS4/5, Xbox One/XS, that kind of thing), but they have all the rest of them. Everything from approximately the 1977 to 2017 period of time, you can get from Redump and No-Intro. At that point, it's just a matter of getting emulators, and Zophar's Domain has the most complete listing on a single site of safe emulator downloads that you can hope to find.

So, let's recap. Myrient for games, Zophar's Domain for emulators.

If you're having trouble sifting through this veritable suburban mall's worth of videogames, I happen to have lists of 15 essential games from several retro consoles on my website. (Shameless self-insert to inflate my view count.)

Whilst I'm on the subject, I really do recommend getting your computer games solely from MyAbandonware and FitGirl from now on. If there's a game you're looking for that doesn't show up on one of those sites, FMHY can point you in the right direction. I don't want to see anyone paying for another videogame in their lives, okay? These are all safe resources that the corporate feudal state doesn't want you to know about.

I love you and A"H cohost.
