From what I can tell, this whole “discourse” was started because of someone politely expressing how the Yinglet typing quirk is irritating to them. Which prompted other people to express how this is also a problem for them. This (disabled people just expressing that there are things that are a barrier for them, and asking people to tag their posts) has somehow let to these polarized posts, where people are actively dismissing and belittling the concerns of disabled people. With some just saying telling people to go outside and find real problems and some just straight up making fun of someone’s physical pain (I’m pretty sure that the mention of migraines in that post, is a direct reference to the Mathsbian post linked in the words other; what a shitty person). In these posts people talk of disabled people as these entitled, overly sensitive brats, who want the whole world to revolve around them (these post usually just vaguely gesture at how there’s a discourse about typing quirks, without saying who’s exactly complaining. But make no mistake, most of the “discourse” comes from disabled people).

People are, somehow, mad at disabled people for simply expressing how something is irritating to them, and instead of following their own advice of just ignoring and scrolling past, are actively being shitty to those disabled people.

I will agree, that the best (though not the perfect) solution is for us disabled people to just block and silence and try and filter out posts that irritate us. Because there will always be inconsiderate shitheads, who’d rather do anything else than put in the simpelst of effort to accommodate others.

On a personal note: seeing people whom I’m mutuals with, post or reshare these often outright ableist posts, is really disheartening. I don’t leave the site, but I’ll definitely be making more liberal use of the block function. Also nothing against Yinglets. If posting like that makes you happy, then that’s awesome. However, just like how it’s okay for you to make posts with flashing lights in them, please be aware of how your post might affect other people.

Much love to all Disabled People and Yinglets reading this ♥.

(NOT NOT HARASS ANYONE I LINKED TO HERE, JUST BLOCK THEM IF YOU DISLIKE THEM.)
