Förfallet - Ve

The majority of post-black metal is hipster garbage, but occasionally there are some releases that merit attention. Förfallet’s Ve is one such album, with five dark, atmospheric tracks that blend melody and ferocity. If you’re only going to listen to one post-black metal album in 2024, this should be it.

SXAP - -emptiness

Rhythmic, mechanized drone with some spacey ambient segments, -emptiness is a dense and foreboding album. There’s a certain hypnotic quality to SXAP’s music that draws you in and keeps you entranced, this isn’t the sort of stuff that drifts off into the background. Recommended.

Vér - Demo

Old school death metal with some thrash undertones, Vér is killing it with this demo. You’re going to have a devastating case of whiplash from all the headbanging induced by the tracks here. I can’t wait to hear a full length from these guys.
