A lot of people really enjoy seeing characters they love enjoying quotidian things. Like "Oh, art of this trans girl character I like relaxing and enjoying a pastry!" "Ooh, a cute monster boy sleeping on a couch!" Often the thing with stuff like that is not just that its heartwarming or calming, but that theres some joyous beauty, a particular kind of preciousness, and like something that's Just Right to that person having that little moment.
I just want to turn that around a bit- the beauty you see in that is beauty you can see on yourself and your friends. You have been that precious, right moment of beauty.
For some reason it is often easier to view various beauties of life from the outside.
Part of this may be our pursuit of goals. Part of this may be as you see something over and over, you see it through long slow comparison- "not as good as the last time i did it" or "this one thing is a little different now" or nothing. You stop looking at the base essential things about it and only see what's different, or see nothing different and so it completely passes you by.
Nostalgia is also similar- just like its easier to appreciate those wonderful things from outside, its for some reason easier to appreciate them from the past than the present.
Try to turn that eye towards yourself and your friends and towards the now and the recent, not just the symbols of lovely capsules of existence that we like to share with each other. The symbols are great, but so is the real thing.
you are the cute monster person having a sip....... you are the cute girl with horns making a silly face at a friend
