New Color Scheme and New Forms for the New Year! (As well as a new intro post!)

I'm Acute Rabbit, or Acute for short. I'm a self taught comic artist, but I also like world building and character, monster and logo designing, as well as "100s" Projects where I draw one hundred of a thing. I occasionally do other types of design projects to practice a subject or try a new way to tell a story. My art leans more towards horror and "creepy cute."
While I post my art here, I post comics over on ComicFury for ease of reading.

When not working on art, I enjoy reading, gaming and listening to music, as well as browsing retro items and stationery. I'm currently reading about philosophy, Ancient Egypt and demonology. I'll give just about any game a try except for puzzle games and metroidvanias. My music tastes is all over the place, ranging from memey songs to indie musicians and game soundtracks. I like reading about people fixing old computers and since I've recently discovered my liking of stationery, I haven't gone beyond basic pens and notebooks yet.

My goal for this year is to finish more comics and projects and complete some non-artistic goals, like building things from an every growing Minecraft playlist and finishing up all the books in my growing book backlog.

Good news out of the UK: court confirms "sweat of the brow" copies of public domain works aren't eligible for copyright. For years, UK museums have been asserting they own the rights to the photos and scans they've taken of the public domain materials in their collections, and charging licensing fees for using those reproductions. Since the original materials are in their collections, and they won't allow other people to make their own license-free copies, they effectively enclosed the public domain works back in copyright. The court has struck that down with an interpretation of the UK's 2009 copyright law which states that that kind of mechnical reproduction isn't eligible for any form of copyright protection at all.

hey people who paint (images of) highly textured surfaces like mountains and rock faces and stuff: how do you do it. how do you achieve that kind of look quickly/easily when you have a very detailed thing that it would be impossible to go in and manually paint every single pixel of detail for. what tools are people using

(trying to articulate this properly. like i'm painting a mountain. how do i capture the texture and colour changes of the rock faces without it all looking too same-y)
