I have been learning how to book bind out of necessity rather than wanting of a new hobby. For a holiday gift, I filled a moleskin notebook full of art, poetry and love notes for my wife over the course of a year. I didnt realize how shitty these note books were so by November of this year, It was busting at the spine and I was having to hold it shut with one of my wood working clamps.
So I bought the simple guide to book binding by unbind books and went to work. now it opens and looks so much better! It's definitely not perfect but I think that's part of the charm :3
and because I was able to successfully not fuck up one book, I immediately took on a project way too advanced (for me). My beauty of a wife loves the hunger games, so I found an old softback copy from the thrift shop, ripped it up, and made it a hard back. I added ribbon and painted the sides and tried my damnest to not fuck up the cover art. I however, dont own a circuit thingy like every other person who seems to do book binding so there are many mistakes. oops!
