Pourin' tiiiiime~
Feeling kind of a 90's vibe today. Thought I'd use the premixed white that I picked up on clearance, but I think I see why it was there. Pretty stodgy stuff. Worked well enough for a blowout I guess but it doesn't seem very interested in making cells. That's fine, I guess, we'll just stick with swirls~
Now that the face has had a week for the paint to settle, I'm working on the back. Could've been a little more thorough sanding down the overpour, but eh. It's a clock, if you're looking at the back of it, it's because you're changing the battery or something. Not a big concern.
Masked off the front side with green frog tape and gave everything on the rear and edge a few coats of black acrylic, including the the "hour" ovals. I think that actually makes them pop a fair bit more! Tidied up any paint that seeped under the tape with a wet wipe with no damage to the pour.
I'm unsure what I want to do for the top coat. It's much too big for UV resin and I don't have any two-part around. I do want glossy, though. Maybe Triple Thick?
also totally starting to use an art tag for these kinds of posts, because I lost this one for a hot minute
grumble grumble
The Triple Thick came out SO lumpy and horrible. There's nothing in the instructions on thinning it first, but that seems to have been a clear step that was needed... Trying a second coat of it to hopefully smooth out but...not happy.
Also forgot to wash out my varnish brush, so it's a varnish hammer now.
