journal entry two,
I think that one of the things that I want to focus on more so in the very soon up coming year is just doing more with both unusual materials in both canvas and sculpture art. You know, the kind of found objects or art made of things that would end up thrown away if I hadn't used it in my art. I've actually done some art in this way with glossy ad paper, rolled up paper tubes from paper bags that came from the pharmacy, and scraps of scrap mixed media paper that were too small to do anything else with.
All nice pieces of art resulted from them that I loved. But want to start working more with various other materials other then paper ones. And also use those materials more so sculpture.
I've mentioned Apoxie sculpt in my last entry. That, gloves, and some other safety gear for various other things I want to work with on my Christmas list this year. Which I do find funny. But yes, on my list of things i want to start evolving my art a bit more.
I also am going to do some brain storming on what to do with some plastic well.. sequins is the best name for the results. Anything that's not jewellery because that's not what I'm looking into making right now. But yeah, take some thin plastic bottles/lids/cups, clean them thoroughly just in case, and hole punch the sequin shapes out of them.
I learned this from a tik tok channel called Loveheylola. They do a lot of jewelry and installations with junk items. Very inspiring and I highly suggest checking out their videos.
Not only have I learned a new avenue I can take on my creative map but I found this really, really good heavy duty hole punch thing that can hole punch through thin plastics. I love it so much.
That said, still thinking of what I want to do with them. Off the top of my head I'm thinking of securing them to felt shapes maybe? That's a experiment I need to try.
Plans for today though? Mess around with cardboard more. And pull out that air dry clay and try it on the shapes. I also am thinking of messing around with fake flower petals from the dollar store and some of that air dry clay and see what i can do to the shape of the petals maybe?
Like always, open to questions, comment, thoughts, tips, whatever when it comes to these journal posts. I think another part of these journals besides helping myself is just starting conversation.
