This started as a pencil sketch of Ly from like a month or 2 ago. Then I realised the pose would work well as a re-imagining of her juggling Rayman as seen in some concept art for Rayman 2. This was very enjoyable to draw after a month of busy non-artsy work!

Ara Dax is a private investigator who works in and around the second circle of Cibarium. When the story begins, her previous partner Ursa Grada (he/they) had recently died tragically in an incident involving the Threads (the labyrinth of ancient ant tunnels located directly underneath the city).

Ursa did most of the legwork in the operation, so Ara feels a bit overwhelmed at the moment.

Sometimes I'm just doodling out ideas and I end up with a bunch of comics I'm accidentally pretty proud of haha?? So I whipped up some covers for those batch of comics that I'll be sharing here over the next few days.

So!! I got caught up in yet another obscure arc and minor villain to re-imagine. We took a story originally about self potential and hatred into one about familial loss and survivor twin grief. I tried my best to make it work out of context so you don't need any knowledge about the characters going in. It's a bit looser in some ways since we made them out of order.
