Grrrreetings, fellow dragon enjoyers! Today is the start of Smaugust, the month of drawing dragons! This Smaugust is extra special with it being the Year of the Dragon as well, so I thought: why not participate?
I’m using this prompt list, so the first dragon I have to choose is one from a book. I chose Benjamin from @nigelpuppy’s Tales From Veynekan, because that series needs more people to know about it, and Ben’s adorable.
Hold on to your hats;
One day on. One day off. Start drawing the second the coffee mug is in my hands until I gotta go do something else.
I am able to get a few of these "pages" done a day this way if I'm not suffering from any health issues. ex- The pain of not wearing sunscreen on a high UV day. It's peeling off nicely now, thank you for asking. But as I get to the end of this first story I'm beginning to realize how limited the infinite scroll is as a way to make comics.
Yeah, yeah. I've been harping on this a few million times now, but the more I try to make the format work for me the more it ain't. My Day Off was spent redrawing the thumbnails for the remaining stories with a mind of a more traditional print page format. I don't know if I'll redo this first installment.
Probably not.
Finally got off my ass and made an actually decent one!
Really liking the highlights in this one. I've struggled with coloring my artwork for a long time, but I think I'm finally getting the hang of it :)
