Did everything other than straight up deleting my Twitter account just now. Downloaded a fresh archive yesterday and deleted the app. But with the Tweetdeck change today I just called it. Locked the account, removed saved credentials, cleared cookies, I technically can still get in if I needed to, but it's enough of a hassle now that short of an emergency it's just gonna rot until it gets automatically deleted.
Had that account for 13 years, though I'd really only used it the last 8, the first five was for required PAX Enforcer notifications.
Feels weird to close that out.
Especially while wondering what social media will even be available in another year. I sure hope Cohost sticks around, but it lacks a benefactor with resources enough to let 50k a month burn.
BlueSky looks worse and worse the more I heard about it.
Discord is getting sloppier with every awful hire out of FAANG they get and will likely, sooner than later, need to sell or IPO.
Any given Mastodon instance can drop without notice.
Reddit is something I've never used interactively, but it's also apparently spiraling.
...Tumblr? Is that currently the most stable looking in the long term? That's... huh. That would be funny.
I do really like it here though; I should increase my yearly Cohost Plus amount the next time I have money I can spend.
