for my own music, i need what is essentially a text file that is shared between multiple devices and cloud-synced so i can view and edit it on my phone. in the old days i used to do this with a windows 7 shared drive, but now that i have a smartphone i want to be able to write music on the bus or something so it needs to be somehow """ in da cloud """

all the note-taking apps i have tried are in one way or another irritating and more than what i want.

  • obsidian: looks incredible, but cloud costs 8 bucks a month and i can't justify that cost
  • notion: free version looked promising except now you can't turn off the prompt constantly begging you to try autocompleting with AI: extraordinarily bad
  • evernote: what i use now, it's okay but the app is bloated and strange and it is constantly bombarding me with "special offers" begging to pay for it
  • google docs: used to use this, but it has way too many bells and whistles / bloated / the app takes more than 1 second to boot on my phone, which i simply do not accept. i do not and will never want to change the paragraph spacing in which i notate rhythms

does there exist anything else that is free or very low cost. i am fine hosting my own tiny server if it comes to that

@craw

did I really miss the 50/50 roll for asks on all 4 of my pages? I'm pissed

(unless it's per account, which fair but still pissed)

@craw

actually statistically, if I already failed the 33% and it went to 50% then I technically missed like a 12%? is that how that works?

technically it even increased there from 10% so... there's a math problem about missing a random rolling window on 4 different pages

(it could also not be per page but per account, but still, I'm pissed, not at staff but at fate, at god)
