i finished axiom's end (by lindsay ellis) a few days ago and really enjoyed it. an intensely gripping book about aliens, language, & families. loved the dialogue especially. i strongly recommend it and i'm very much looking forward to borrowing the sequel, truth of the divine, from a friend later this week. i had a few gripes about the last hundred or so pages which i'll stick under the cut. full spoilers.
(i played corru.observer EP2ADD2 shortly after i began reading (last tuesday) and kept misremembering details about the different alien landings which i thought was a little funny)
and now i've finished the sequel, truth of the divine. beat my previous record of ^^^ as the fastest book i've read: did TotD's 550 pages in 3 days. looking forward to this new era of reading faster.
my thoughts aren't quite so clear and concise as they were for axiom's end. it is an immensely heavy book which induced a breakdown in me last night and ultimately uncovered a lot that i'd like to talk to my therapist about. i recommend the book but bear in mind that it is significantly tougher than the first. there is a full content warning at the beginning and it is your friend.
i don't think it was quite the book i hoped it would be, though i found it interesting and thoughtful regardless which is really all i can ask for.
