Zeddy had been part of the Zellers family for a long time, but the story of him becoming our spokesbear for safety and low prices did not start off on the right foot.

Born Zedwadf Zoegersdorf in the 1950s to parents who were former aristocracy of what is now Soviet Unterzoegersdorf, he immigrated to Canada in the 1960s and adopted the name we know now as 'Zeddy'. He studied economics at Loyola College in Montréal, but dropped out in his third year and began a life of crime by running retail operations that encouraged both product size deflation and excess margins.

In 1976, Zeddy was eventually charged under the Zellers Act for not maintaining low-prices and was sentenced to four years in jail. Under appeal from the Supreme Court of the Hudson Bay Company, he served one year but had to engage in community service for the three remaining years in his sentence. Those three years would be revolutionary for him as it led to a fulfilling career later on.

His first spokesbear gig was touring the Zellers located in Churchill, Manitoba where luck would have it that the former King of Unterzoegersdorf was residing and had met him in the in-store diner. The King knew who he was and being that he was friends with the then Exchequer of Zellers, he recommended that Zeddy be given a bigger role to encourage him to stay on the "straight and narrow" so to speak.

Zeddy was recognised as having good potential and was named Chief Officer of the Royal Zellers Price Police (RZPP) . Within a few years, he helped Zellers ensure that the lowest price was the law in every store location. He kept this enforced until 2001 when the Zellers Act was reformed and the RZPP was completely defunded.

In 2002, Zeddy announced his retirement so he could spend more time with his children and grandchildren. He kept a low-profile until his death in 2013 shortly before the Republic of Target invaded Zellers and claimed all of its territory.
