EDIT: mystery solved!! it WAS this comic, from march 27th, 1982. the attached image is a FAN EDIT of that comic on the site square root of minus garfield, where it seems like "fench" vs. "fence" may be a very minor in-joke. so i was right all along! now the only question is "why did jim davis use fench in this one instance?" the world may never know. thanks @mintexists for pointing me in the right direction.

EDIT 2: it was just a spelling error and was edited out in later releases.

thinking about a garfield comic i read when i was a kid that used the word "fench" as a synonym for fence. i remember my parents saying it wasn't uncommon but upon a cursory google search it appears this word has no meaning whatsoever.

also upon google searching for "garfield singing on fence comic" i came across the attached comic which i feel like is the one i'm thinking of but it uses fence! but i don't think i made this up because i remember noticing it every single time i read it in the compilation book. i must solve this mystery at some point

It's a genuine wonder to me how I haven't played this game until now. But then again, I think this any time I finish an amazing game, and obviously, this is no exception. I was first brought in to the Metal Gear series through the boom of popularity Metal Gear Rising had, and after playing it, I planned to play the other games, and then, a year passed. I get distracted so easily it's kinda funny.

But!!! This game was amazing. I really enjoyed the stealth, which is kinda rare for me partially. In most games I play, I typically just run in guns blazing, but I really did enjoy sneaking around in this game. I feel like it's because it strikes a right balance of not having to constantly be sneaking, but you still have to be on your guard at every occasion. That balance is really good, especially for someone like me who hasn't played many stealth games.

And god, the bosses were amazing. Not only is there this great spectacle, aside from one boss, they each had unique challenges that made them super engaging to fight. That one boss I didn't like just really came down to how the Sniper Rifle controls, as I don't think joystick aiming works well when you have to be really precise. But even then, that's just one small fragment of a much larger game. The story and its themes as well are just amazing. I love the web of mysteries that are weaved, and the characters, especially the villains, are such interesting characters. Even though for the ones with very little screen time, they all leave such a lasting impression.

I really enjoyed my time playing Metal Gear Solid, like I said prior, I should've played this game a lot sooner. This game left such a strong, and good impression on me, I can't wait to continue the series.
