Deleted it from my phone. I'll check in in a couple weeks in case there are any DMs, but I'll be honest, there never are. I've been there for seven years, posted a lot, never really had that many followers.

I'll be removing my Twitter info from my websites tonight.

I think this is it. I dragged my feet for a long time since the sale and transfer, because of the poetry community there. It was great! A RT of a submissions call is how I got my first publication. And I've been dialling back my use, hoping others would migrate out as well. But nobody did. Or not many. And I get it. Inertia's a hell of a force. But meanwhile Musk has gotten worse and worse and as much as I want to stick around and witness his financial ruin, I've had enough. It's not fun, none of it is, and I feel like I've reached an end with social media. I want to meet interesting people online, but, not like that. I've met so many people through Twitter and I'll miss so few of them. I doubt many will even notice I'm gone. Ain't those two damning indictments. It all feels tired, like kicking a soccer ball that's lost its air.

What's next? I'm on Mastodon (@juliancday@writing.exchange), I'll do cohost a bit, but I think my focus will be more on writing, coding, doing my small web and gemini sites. Getting back to intentionality and making things. Discovery. The social media age has felt bright and empty to me. I was online for a decade before Facebook. A better way is possible. I want to find my way back to something a little more open, and wild. Find that spark that the corporate web tried to make their own.
